About Libra

Libra is a cryptocurrency that is being developed by Facebook and a network of established financial companies, such as Visa and Mastercard. The Libra blockchain is designed to support a low-volatility digital asset that will serve as an efficient medium of exchange for Facebook's users. The network will be powered by smart contracts written in a new programming language called Move. Libra will be backed by a reserve of assets to stabilize its' value. The Libra blockchain is operated by a network of validator nodes. As the network grows and becomes more self-sustaining, the Libra Association will work to gradually transition to a permissionless mode of operation.
