Ignis vs Ternio vs Skycoin
What problem does this service solve?
Ignis allows users to create DApps on the Nxt blockchain. It's vision and benefits are somewhat unclear. | Ternio aims to build a single blockchain frame-work that will be capable of meeting the needs of multiple industries. | Skycoin aims to decentralize the internet and provide a platform to build DApps. |

Company Description
Ignis is a blockchain platform that is being developed by Jeluirda; the company behind Ardor and Nxt. Ignis is a child chain of the Nxt blockchain. Jelurida is developing blockchain platforms that will enable users to develop decentralized applications, and will be based on a parent and child chain architecture. | Ternio is developing a scalable blockchain framework called Lexicon. It was originally a fork of Hyperledger Fabric, and is designed to handle the high transactions rates that enterprise business clients need. Ternio's framework uses its Lexicon Blockchain as a data protocol, and the Stellar Blockchain as a payment protocol. Ternio will have a Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) consensus mechanism. Ternio's marketing materials mention the benefits that their high performance, Lexicon blockchain can have in programmatic digital advertising, as well as a variety of other industries. Ternio also created the BlockCard; a crypto debit card that enables users to spend their cryptocurrency. Their network is currently powered by the Stellar-based TERN token. | Skycoin began as an ambitious infrastructure project aimed at replacing the Proof-of-Work (PoW) and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithms that dominate current blockchain platforms. It has since evolved into a project focused on creating a decentralized mesh-Internet and a platform for other blockchain-based projects. Skycoin is developing an ecosystem with a variety of goals, including: the elimination of mining rewards, development of energy-efficient custom hardware, advancing security and privacy, and achieving transaction speeds that rival current digital payment systems. The ecosystem consists of the native SKY coin, Skywire (decentralized mesh-Internet), Skyminer (hardware and access point for Skywire), Skyledger (decentralized open blockchain network), and a suite of DApps. The consensus algorithm is called Obelisk. The network's nodes agree based on a Web-of-Trust consensus. The ability to influence transaction verification is distributed over the network creating a web of trust. To eliminate mining completely each node on the network connects to a list of nodes that it sees as trustworthy. |
