BurstCoin is a cryptocurrency with a Proof-of-Capacity (PoC) consensus algorithm. Unlike most other cryptocurrencies, Burst's architecture uses a Tangle (similar to IOTA) instead of relying on a blockchain. It also utilizes ring signatures and other features, in what is called the Dymaxion. The Dymaxion implements layers of tangle-based lightning networks on top of the Burst blockchain. Each of these payment channels is opened in the form of a standalone colored tangle. These computing resources will drive the PoS consensus, and the users that rent the hardware will be rewarded with newly minted PLC coins.

Gulden has gained traction in the Netherlands, where it can be used to make P2P payments, as well as send funds to an IBAN account. Gulden's marketing efforts emphasize the network's security and faster transaction times. Gulden's PoW² consensus combines aspects of PoS with PoW, and allows witnesses to add transactions to blocks after they have been mined. The network is powered by the NLG coin.
