Ultrain is a Chinese company that is developing a blockchain platform focused on cloud computing solutions that will based on a consensus mechanism that they call random trusted consensus. Ultrain hopes to create value opportunities for DApp developers by increasing decentralization and making smart contracts easier to use. Their network is currently powered by the Ethereum-based UGAS token.

Enigma aims to bring greater utility to blockchain by increasing privacy. The Enigma protocol introduces private smart contracts called "secret contracts"​, that enable computations on encrypted data, and use the blockchain infrastructure for payment distribution and other functions. Enigma is taking on one of the central problems facing blockchain, maintaining data privacy while meeting the rapidly growing scaling requirements of decentralized networks. Enigma tries to solve this problem by introducing a second layer network for computations. By using secret contracts that allow nodes to process data, sensitive proprietary data can be protected, while maintaining the other benefits of storing data on a blockchain.
