Tencent's BaaS platform is designed to provide all the tools necessary for developing blockchain applications. Tencent hopes to utilize its enormous market share in the Chinese internet market to become a player in this quickly growing field. The company is competing against Alibaba and Baidu in a large number of industries, and blockchain will be another sector for them to engage in.
